Dogpatch brought back by dog bowls

The inventor and manufacturer of a unique, "spill-proof" dog bowl is reportedly moving his operation to the area as part of a grand scheme that also includes the purchase of an abandoned Newton County theme park. The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reported Friday that Charles "Bud" Pelsor had purchased nearly 400 acres that once comprised the Dogpatch amusement park at a price of about $2 million. The Little Rock newspaper mentioned the manufacturing of the pet product to begin in Mountain Home in the near future. A Mountain Home Chamber of Commerce spokesman said the chamber is unaware of any plans of that nature.
Pelsor says he wants to turn the former park into an eco-tourism attraction. He also discussed plans to revitalize a trout habitat on the property and bring back a once indigenous species of pearl mussel in park waterways.
