MH woman warns of scam artists posing as IRS agents

A Mountain Home woman is alerting area residents in hopes they won't be duped if they receive a phone call from someone who claims to be an IRS agent. Ara Banks says she received a phone call Friday morning from a man with an Indian accent who said he was with the IRS and he was contacting her to collect back taxes he claimed she owed.

Banks says authorities say if she had followed the con man's instructions, she would have received a package with information on how to pay the "back taxes" the scammer said she owed.
Banks says although she quickly recognized the incident as a ruse to get her money, she fears others in the area may fall prey to such calls and wants to alert them of the dangers.
