Durante was first teamed with straight man Garry Moore on the March 25, 1943 broadcast of Camel Caravan, and the new team filled in for Abbott and Costello that October after Lou was stricken by a heart attack. "Dat's my boy dat said dat!" became an instant catchphrase for Durante. The duo became one of the nation's favorites for the rest of the decade, including a well-reviewed Armed Forces Radio Network command performance with Frank Sinatra that remains a favorite of radio collectors today.
