iStock/Thinkstock(SAN BERNARDINO, Calif.) — A Southern California wildfire dubbed the Pilot Fire has tripled in size overnight, jumping from 1,500 acres to 4,500 acres, authorities said Monday.
The Pilot Fire is in a remote area in San Bernardino County and is 5 percent contained Monday morning, according to Cal Fire. It was named so because of its location on Pilot Rock Ridge, near Silverwood Lake.
While there are no reports of homes burned, some evacuations were ordered, according to the U.S. Forest Service. The blaze began just after noon Sunday.
The cause is unknown.
