Death Toll Rises to 13 in Historic Louisiana Flooding

ABC News(BATON ROUGE, La.) — The death toll in the historic flooding in Louisiana has risen to 13, officials said Wednesday night.

Officials said that there were two deaths in Livingston Parish, two in St. Helena, five in East Baton Rouge, three in Tangipahoa and one in Rapides Parish.

Some 40,000 homes have been affected by the inundation, which Gov. John Bel Edwards called “unprecedented.”

And some 8,000 people were in shelters as President Obama declared a state of emergency in the area.
