Y-S Public Schools enroll 693 students, board rescinds CEP application

      Yellville-Summit Public Schools opened their doors to teachers and students Wednesday morning, Superintendent Wes Henderson says the first day couldn't of went smoother.

     The school board met Tuesday evening for their final time before the new school year. Henderson says, among other items, the board approved the purchase of two buses from another school district.

     The district had hopes of implementing the Community Eligibility Provision, which would of covered 95.8 percent of the costs for student meals, but Henderson said the district had to rescind their application due to financial reasons.

     Henderson says 693 students were enrolled for the first day, about the same as the first day of school in 2015.
