17 filings reported Thursday; race develops in Bull Shoals

     The filing deadline for city positions in Arkansas is less than 24 away, and Baxter and Marion Counties combined for 17 filings on Thursday.
     In Baxter County, Rick Pierce will seek re-election for Ward 1, Position 2 to the Mountain Home City Council. The only incumbent to file Thursday in Cotter is Recorder/Treasure Andrea Kray. Nathan Buck will run to be the Ward 1, Position 2 Alderman, and Mertice Kray will seek the seet of Ward 3, Position 1. In Briarcliff, Bonnie Sutterfield is running to be a new alderman for Position 2, and Recorder/Treasurer Denise Corbin will seek re-election. Jimmy Mincey re-filed for Norfork City Council's Ward 3, Position 2 seat. Three incumbents filed for Lakeview as Ken Barton runs for Ward 2, Position 2, Bill Svehla looks to stay on Ward 3, Position 1, and Rebecca Barton seeks re-election to the Recorder/Treasurer position. Lonnie Holt will run to keep his Position 5 seat on the Big Flat City Council.
     A race has developed in Marion County as two candidates filed for Ward 3, Position 2 of the Bull Shoals City Council. Anna Harper is the incumbent, and she'll be challenged by Jim Traylor. Also in Bull Shoals, Marty Nickels re-filed for Ward 2, Position 1.
     Elsewhere in Marion County, two filings were announced for Flippin City Council as Jennifer Porter is the incumbent for Ward 1, Position 1, and James Burkhart will run to be the new alderman for Ward 2, Position 2. Ken Rigmaiden will seek re-election to Ward 2, Position 1 on the Yellville City Council.
     Filings must be turned in by noon Friday.
