City council races develop in Cotter, Bull Shoals

     The deadline has passed for candidates for city positions to file in Arkansas. A couple of races have developed in Cotter, and Bull Shoals also picked up another race.
     John Beu will run for the Ward 2, Position 2 seat on the Cotter City Council, and he will challenge incumbent Jim Pilcher who re-filed Tuesday. Victoria Francis filed to be the Ward 3, Position 1 alderman, and her opponent will be Mertice Kray who submitted her papers Thursday. In addition, Carolyn Gill is running to be the new council member for Ward 1, Position 1.
     Three other filings by incumbents were announced in Baxter County. Richard Peglar will run for re-election to Ward 1, Position 2 in Gassville, Don Sappington re-filed for Ward 1, Position 1 in Norfork, and Shawn Shelton looks to keep his Position 3 seat in Big Flat.
     The newest race in Marion County is for Ward 2, Position 2 on the Bull Shoals City Council. Dino Giannini filed for the position Friday, and he'll challenge incumbent Phil Friese who re-filed Wednesday.
     Marion County's three other filings on Friday were all by incumbents. Karen Varn will run for her Recorder position in Flippin, and Robert Pugsley will seek re-election to Ward 3, Position 1 in Summit. Yellville had two filings for Ward 3 as James Cheever runs again for Position 1, and Kevin Goulet looks to stay on in Position 2.
