A Sharp County man is accused of threatening to shoot up the Highland Schools. According to Jonesboro television station KAIT, 18-year-old Joseph Griffin of Cherokee Village was arrested Tuesday by the Sharp County Sheriff’s Office, and he faces a charge of terroristic threatening.

A deputy responded to Highland High School where the counselor claims Griffin touched another student in a manner that upset her. Court documents show Griffin said he “wanted to shoot the school up” after being confronted by the accusations. After being asked if he made the threats, Griffin told the investigator he “got mad and said it.”

Griffin was taken to the sheriff’s office and charged with a Class A felony count of making a terroristic threat.
