MHHS Bomb Squad, China summary and photo gallery

      A team of 10 robotics members from Mountain Home, traveled to Shanghai, China, August 4-15, to participate in the 2016 China Robotics Challenge, claiming 10th place out of 57 international teams.

     The Bomb Squad was invited by Chinese event organizers to share their skills and experience with Chinese teams. In addition to the team from Mountain Home, there were teams from California, Texas, New York, Washington, Nevada, Iowa, Pennsylvania, Hawaii, Brazil, Israel, Canada and Australia.
     The Bomb Squad spent several days prior to the competition working with students in the China Urban Youth Robotics Alliance helping Chinese teams build robots to compete in the games.
Listen: right-click to download mp3     The Bomb Squad managed to get away from the competition for a bit to explore Shanghai. There, they were taken on an excursion to the Yellow Mountains where they took cable cars and hiked up 5,000 feet to stay in a lodge at the top of a range.

     They experienced Chinese life and traditional food, even if it wasn't to their taste.

     The 2017 Arkansas Rock City Regional will be held at Barton Coliseum March 8-11, 2017 and the Chinese teams have been invited to attend.
     The FIRST Robotics Competition is a program that challenges high school students, workingwith professional Mentors, design and build a robot able to contend in competitions measuring the
effectiveness of the robot, the power of collaboration and the determination of students.
     The Bomb Squad won the 2012 FIRST World Championship and have been invited to the White House Science Fair. They were also featured at the 2013 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
