Roads to be resurfaced in 4 area counties

     The Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department has announced improvement projects on several roads in four area counties. All projects are scheduled to begin in two-to-four weeks, weather permitting.
     In Marion County, 2.4 miles of County Road 19 is to be surfaced south of Highway 14 near Caney. Dilbeck Excavation, Inc., of Mountain Home was awarded the contract at a cost of over $254,000.
     Dilbeck also picked up another construction project in Boone County. A half mile of County Road 288 near Harrison is set to be resurfaced. The contract is just over $83,000.
     A total of 3.7 miles of county roads are to be resurfaced in Izard County. The project includes sections of Wideman Road, County Road 55 known as Johnson View Road near Wiseman, West Road near Mount Pleasant and County Road 61 near Bone Town. The contract was awarded to Atlas Asphalt, Inc., of Batesville for over $624,000.
     Another area project will be held in Newton County. APAC-Central, Inc., of Fayetteville will resurface nine city streets in Jasper at a cost of over $266,000.
     All projects are expected to be complete late this year.
