Rebecca Brown of Mountain Home was given seven years in prison, with five year of probation to follow during a session of Baxter County Circuit Court Thursday.

She entered a guilty plea to a number of drug-related charges against her August 11th and formal sentencing was scheduled for Thursday’s court session. The time between the guilty plea and the sentencing was to allow Brown time to get her affairs in order before heading to prison, according to her attorney.

There was some apparent misunderstanding on Brown’s part regarding the five years probation that would follow her release from prison but Circuit Judge John Putman finally said Brown had accepted the plea deal, already pled guilty and he intended to proceed with the formal sentencing.

In the probable cause affidavits on both Rebecca Brown and her husband, Jerry, investigators detail a number of drug buys made between persons cooperating with law enforcement and the couple.

The drug buys, which court records indicate were generally arranged by Rebecca Brown, were made at various locations, including the parking lot of a Mountain Home fast food restaurant, a storage unit complex and a residence occupied by the 47-year-old Brown and her 48-year-old husband.

A search warrant was served on the Brown residence on Rossi Road. Officers discovered a black box in the kitchen containing both methamphetamine in small plastic bags, marijuana cigarettes, scales and smoking pipes.

In addition, the box contained almost $2,400. A civil suit seeking forfeiture of the money has also been filed against Rebecca Brown.

Throughout the residence, officers found more than a pound of marijuana, and four loaded handguns — one of which had been reported as stolen.

Brown’s husband, Jerry, who has been described as “lesser involved” than his wife in the drug activity, was sentenced to 10 years probation on August 11th.
