Sales tax numbers continue to rise in Baxter County and Mtn. Home

     Although sales tax numbers for Baxter County were up in August, the City of Mountain Home’s sales tax numbers declined slightly over last year, according to numbers provided by the state Department of Finance and Administration. The recently released numbers, which covers spending in June, show a increase in county sales tax revenue of $10,1887, according to Baxter County Treasurer Janey Mize.

     The county numbers continue to increase over last year by 2.7%, or $66,131, a trend Mize hopes continues.

     The county sales tax is divided among the county and the eight municipalities, with Mountain Home leading the way with $179,153. Gassville collected $29,907, while Cotter picked up $13,960. Lakeview took in $10,665, Norfork received $7,354, Salesville collected $6,976, the City of Briarcliff netted $3,397 and Big Flat received $1,497.

     Although down by $111 or .03% in August, the City of Mountain Home sales tax revenues are up over 2015 by $55,620 or 1.75%, according to Mountain Home Mayor Joe Dillard.
