Jonesboro's high powered offense too much for Bombers



The Jonesboro Hurricane came into Friday night’s game at Mountain Home with the second highest scoring offense in the state and they showed why as they posted a 25 point victory. Brad Haworth has the details.

Jonesboro scored on nine of their 11 possessions in the game en route to a 63-38 win over the Bombers. Daishon Fountain led the onslaught with four rushing touchdowns and quarterback Tyson Williams tossed three T.D. passes for the Hurricane.

Jonesboro jumped out to a 14-0 lead early on then the teams exchanged touchdowns until Mountain Home pulled to within 28-20 late in the first half. After Jonesboro led 35-20 at the half, Mountain Home would make it 35-26 early in the third quarter and was within 10 points late in the third before Jonesboro pulled away.

Marshall Roberson got the scoring started for the Bombers with a 45 yard run in the first quarter. Cord Smith had a pair of touchdowns in the second quarter, a 70 yard scamper and a 47 yard run. Junior Williams and Riley Pters each had two yard touchdown runs in the third quarter. Isaac McKay added a 77 yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.

The Bombers fall to 0-4 on the season with the loss. Jonesboro improves to 4-0. Mountain Home will travel to Pine Bluff next Friday night.
