LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) – An Arkansas sheriff’s deputy shot and killed a man on a porch after a woman called to complain that the man was armed and acting erratically.

Pulaski County sheriff’s spokesman Capt. Carl Minden said the deputy spoke to Leeland White early Monday but couldn’t persuade him to put down the 20 gauge shotgun. Minden said 32-year-old White was shot twice in the upper right torso.

Minden said the deputy involved was placed on administrative leave with pay. He said the deputy is a 29-year veteran of the department. He did not release the deputy’s name.

     No other injuries were reported.

The shooting occurred in a rural section of Pulaski County about 7 miles west of Little Rock. Minden said White’s last known address was in Saline County.
