VAN BUREN, Ark. (AP) An inmate who escaped a western Arkansas courtroom and stole a deputy’s patrol car has been sentenced to 15 years in prison.

Necolle Speaks pleaded guilty Wednesday to multiple charges, including second-degree escape, fleeing, criminal mischief and aggravated assault on a police officer.

Authorities say Speaks escaped from a Crawford County courtroom on Sept. 23 after the judge called for a recess. Authorities say Speaks then found an unlocked patrol car – with the keys in the console next to the seat – and led authorities on a chase that ended after she crashed the car.

Police dashcam video obtained by Fort Smith television station KHBS shows Speaks used the police radio to say: “Breaker breaker 1-9. We got a tweaker in the car. Everybody sit still.”
