Palm Springs Police Chief Bryan Reyes said in a press conference that Officer Jose Gil Vega and Officer Lesley Zerebny were shot dead while responding to a family dispute.
Reyes said Officer Vega was a 35-year veteran of Palm Springs Police, and due to retire in December, while Officer Zerebny was 27-years-old and had just returned from maternity leave.
Reyes said they’re still working to find the suspected gunman and the investigation is ongoing.
