ABCNews.com(TALLAHASSEE, Fla.) — In a newly released video statement to prosecutors, convicted killer Luis Rivera describes how he says he and his partner stalked Florida State University law professor Dan Markel and shot him dead in the garage of his Tallahassee home in July 2014.

Last week, Rivera pleaded guilty to Markel’s murder, agreeing to cooperate with prosecutors in exchange for a lighter sentence. Rivera claimed his alleged accomplice, Sigfredo Garcia, was the actual triggerman in the murder. Garcia has pleaded not guilty.

Police allege that the two men were hired by members of the family of Wendi Adelson, Markel’s ex-wife, following the couple’s contentious divorce. Attorneys for the Adelson family have denounced accusations that they were involved in Markel’s killing as nothing more than “fanciful fiction.”

The woman alleged to be the go-between linking the two men and the Adelson family was arrested last weekend and is scheduled to make her first appearance in court tomorrow morning in Tallahassee.
