Missouri man files lawsuit over 2015 arrest

A Missouri man has filed a lawsuit over his 2015 arrest.
Carl C. Roettgen is seeking more than $25,000 in damages for his May 2015 arrest in Marshall.
The Columbia Daily Tribune reports that police claimed Roettgen had fired shots at them. But in August, Saline County Prosecuting Attorney Donald Stouffer dropped six felony charges against Roettgen after reviewing surveillance footage of the encounter. Stouffer said he saw no evidence that Roettgen even had a gun when the two officers tried to arrest him for a parole violation.
Police Sgt. Roger Gibson said Sunday he couldn't comment because hadn't seen the lawsuit.
Roettgen's lawyer, John James, says state law allows Roettgen to sue police for "falsely accusing" him of a crime.
