Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson will lead a state delegation to China later this month to promote Arkansas rice and poultry and to meet with companies that have invested in the state.

Hutchinson announced Thursday that he’ll travel with Arkansas Economic Development Commission Executive Director Mike Preston; AEDC director of business development for Asia Mark Hamer; and the governor’s Chief of Staff Allison Williams on the six-day trip. A state trooper will also accompany the governor.

The group will leave Oct. 15 and return Oct. 21 with visits planned in Shanghai, Beijing, Yanzhou District, Jinan, Jining and Suzhou.

Hutchinson traveled to China in November 2015 where he met with officials of Sun Paper, which in April announced plans for a $1 billion paper mill in Arkadelphia.

The trip will cost $45,000.
