LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) Hillary Clinton was Arkansas’ first lady for 12 years, but the Democratic presidential nominee’s former adopted home state is widely expected to give its six electoral votes to Republican Donald Trump.

Tuesday’s election could underscore just how solidly Republican Arkansas has become since Hillary and Bill Clinton left the state and moved into the White House in 1993.

The GOP completed its takeover of Arkansas’ statewide and federal offices two years ago, and it controls both chambers of the Legislature, where it is hoping to gain more seats.

There are few surprises at the top of the ticket, with Democratic Senate hopeful Conner Eldridge trailing Republican Sen. John Boozman in polling and fundraising.

Perhaps the hottest issue to be decided is a ballot measure that would legalize medical marijuana.
