What Does Miranda's Record Reveal About Her Split from Blake? Oprah's Bestie Gayle King Has Some Thoughts

ABC/Image Group LAYou can count Oprah bestie and CBS This Morning host Gayle King among Miranda Lambert’s fans. The editor-at-large of O singles out Miranda’s new double album as one of her favorites on her “The World According to Gayle” page in the December issue of the magazine. Though relatively few people have heard The Weight of These Wings ahead of its Friday release, the somewhat unlikely country music fan is one of them.

Mentioning that this happens to be Miranda’s first record since her split from Blake Shelton last year, Gayle says “… That doesn’t mean it’s 24 songs all about heartbreak. Instead [it] is full of Miranda’s classic brassy sound — one of my favorite tunes, ‘Pink Sunglasses,’ is about cheap specs that make her world look brighter — as well as refreshing honesty about her ex. No matter what Miranda is going through, she’ll always be a bada** who can sing.”

Miranda just released the second single from the project, “We Should Be Friends,” this week.
