ABC/Image Group LA Even though Jason Aldean is known for his arena anthems like “Lights Come On,” the ACM Entertainer of the Year also enjoys reminding his fans — and his critics — of his true country roots.

“You know, I love to go out and have these songs that are fun and kind of rock, and uptempo things,” he tells ABC Radio. “But I also love to prove to people that I’m also a country act, and I grew up on country music and I can sing that as well as I do the other stuff, because I like it. I mean, I put those things on the record because I enjoy playing ’em.”

The latest single from Jason’s They Don’t Know record certainly falls into that category.

“There’s a song on the new album called ‘Any Ol’ Barstool’ that’s just, I mean, as country as it gets. It’s sort of my version of I guess, kinda traditional — I wouldn’t say it’s traditional country, but it’s… probably as country as we’re gonna get.”

“Any Ol’ Barstool” is the follow-up to “A Little More Summertime,” which recently became the 18th number-one of Jason’s career.
