@thecasualclassic/Instagram (NEW YORK) — Extreme winter weather this weekend has spread from Minnesota to New York, causing treacherous driving conditions and the cancellation of over 1,500 flights.
Authorities are calling for drivers to stay home instead of battling the slick roads. A massive 33-car pileup in Flint, Michigan, left I-75 closed for hours while debris was cleared. And in Minneapolis, a car crashed and burst into a 14-foot wall of flames.
Airplane passengers have been stranded this weekend, particularly in Chicago, as lake-effect snow continues to batter the Great Lakes region.
In Detroit on Sunday, a Delta Airlines flight from Buffalo, New York, skidded off the runway after landing. Although no injuries were reported, passengers were forced to evacuate out of the plane’s rear hatch.
The severe weather is expected to continue through the morning, causing a messy commute for millions of Americans on Monday.
