Taylor Swift Remembers Her Country Roots to Help East Tennessee

Mark Metcalfe/Getty ImagesEven though it’s been a moment since she’s had a country hit, Taylor Swift hasn’t forgotten where she came from.

The pop superstar is giving $100,000 to help rebuild Sevier County, Tennessee, after the raging wildfires that devastated the area. The Academy of Country Music will match Taylor’s gift, giving another $100,000 to the effort.

Kenny Chesney and the Country Music Association will also contribute $250,000 each, contributing a total of $500,000.

A portion will go to Dolly Parton’s My People Fund, with more money being raised via the Smoky Mountains Rise Telethon. That will air on Great American Country, AXS TV, RFD and Heartland, starting at 8 p.m. ET Tuesday.
