A Mountain View man was arrested following a traffic stop by Stone County sheriff's deputies. According to Stone County Sheriff Lance Bonds, 45 year old Kevin Anthony is charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, and misdemeanor charges including possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia as well as driving on a suspended license. Bond for Anthony was set at $7,500.
The sheriff says a deputy from his department was on routine patrol on State Highway 5 South when he saw Anthony's vehicle, with an obstructed license plate, prompting the stop near Cove Road. The deputy found Anthony was not in possession of a valid driver's license and observed a rifle, which was loaded, in the vehicle. The deputy also located a device used for smoking drugs and a baggie containing suspected marijuana.
