Junior high basketball makes up the local Saturday schedule including the Mountain Home 7th Grade Tournament.
The girls' side begins at nine a.m. as the host Seventh Grade Lady Bombers face Melbourne in the main gym, and the winner meets Greene County Tech in the semifinals at 1:00 in the main gym. Harrison and Bergman will also tip off at 9:00 in the auxiliary gym, and the winner goes up against Highland in the other semifinal at 1:00 in the auxiliary gym. The losers from the 9:00 games will play a consolation game at 11:00 in the main gym. The winners of the semifinals will play at 3:00 in the main gym for the championship, and the losers will be in the auxiliary gym at 3:00 for third place.
In boys' action, Bergman and Greene County Tech tip off at ten a.m. in the main gym, and Melbourne plays Harrison at the same time in the auxiliary gym. The losers meet in a consolation game at noon in the auxiliary gym, and the winners will compete against each other in the semifinals at 2:00 in the auxiliary gym. In addition, Highland faces Paragould in the auxiliary gym at 11:00 with the loser taking on Mountain Home's B squad in the main gym at noon, and the winner will face the Mountain Home varsity team in the main gym at 2:00 in the other semifinal. The semifinal winners will play for the title at 4:00 in the main gym.
Elsewhere, the 2A/1A-3 Junior District Tournament gets underway at Izard County High School in Brockwell. On the girls' bracket, Flippin and the host Junior Lady Cougars tip off at 2:00, and Cotter faces top-seeded Viola at 4:30. In the boys' games, Norfork takes on the host and number one seed Izard County at 3:15, and Cotter will be paired with Salem at 5:45.
