Zimmerman named to BRMC board of directors

     Baxter Regional Medical Center has announced local businessman and Mountain Home resident, Lang Zimmerman will be joining the hospital’s board of directors. In making the announcement Board Chairman Sally Gilbert says Zimmerman and his family are well loved members of the community and they are honored to have him join the team. She says his experience and knowledge will be an invaluable asset to the board.

     A graduate of the University of Arkansas with a bachelor of science degree in computer science engineering, Zimmerman is Vice President and member of the board of directors of Yelcot Telephone Company, Yelcot Auto Group, Mountain View Telephone Company and Yelcot Video Group. He is the co-founder and managing partner of Big Creek Golf and Country Club and Mountain Land Group, LLC.

     Zimmerman was appointed as a commissioner on the Arkansas Economic Development Commission in 2011 by then governor Mike Beebe and served as their chairman in 2015. He also served on the board and as president of the Arkansas Deaf and Hearing Impaired Telecommunications Services Corporation. He currently serves on the board of the Arkansas Telecommunications Association where he is a two-time past president and is a past chairman of their Legislative and Regulatory Committee. Zimmerman also serves on the boards of the University of Arkansas Computer Science and Computer Engineering Advisory Board, Arkansas Travel Council, FOCUS Mountain Home and the University of Arkansas College of Medicine Parents Club. He is a past board member of the Mountain Home Area Chamber of Commerce, North Central Arkansas Regional Economic Development Commission and North Central Arkansas Foundation for Higher Education.

     An active member and past president of the Rotary Club of Mountain Home and a Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International, Zimmerman serves on the Arkansas State University-Mountain Home Performing Arts Committee. He is the recipient of the Distinguished Alumni Award from the University of Arkansas College of Engineering in 2005 and elected to membership in the Arkansas Academy of Computing in 2012.

     Zimmerman and his wife, Sara, are the parents of a daughter, Sloane, who is a third year medical student at the University of Arkansas for Medical Science in Little Rock and a son, Richard, who recently graduated from the University of Arkansas with a bachelor or arts in accounting.
