Steve Dixon was given six years in prison with three suspended and three to serve after pleading guilty to mainly drug-related charges during a session of Baxter County Circuit Court Thursday.

In addition to his prison time, Dixon will spend six years on probation following his release.

The 50-year-old Dixon was arrested January 17th after police raided a residence along Cochran Drive after receiving a tip that a person wanted for questioning in a theft investigation might be there.

When officers arrived at the home, which is listed as Dixon’s residence in investigative records, they were at first denied entry by a woman later identified as Brenda Barnes. Officers were able to see other people scurrying around the house in an apparent attempt to find hiding places.

When officers finally entered the residence, Barnes first said that she and a 16-year-old juvenile were the only ones in the house.

A search of the residence turned up a number of other people, including Dixon. According to investigative reports, a number of illegal drugs were also discovered, including marijuana, prescription narcotics, loaded and used syringes, and multiple sets of digital scales.

The 16-year-old was turned over to Juvenile Services.
