
Mountain Home High School came away with four wins Tuesday as all were in conference tournament action.
The Bombers’ baseball team is one win away from capturing the championship of the 6A-East Conference Tournament. Mountain Home went to Marion as the number seven seed and upset the third-seeded Patriots in the semifinals 5-2.
Gage McClain picked up the victory as he pitched a complete game and gave up three hits, five walks and one earned run. Offensively, Ben Henderson and Luke Kruse led the Bombers with two hits each, but everyone in Mountain Home’s batting lineup came away with a base hit and/or an RBI.
Mountain Home will return to the road Saturday to play in the title game Saturday against top-seeded Jonesboro. It will be a rematch of last year’s Class 6A state championship game.
Mountain Home’s softball team kept their season alive in the 6A-East Conference Tournament. The Lady Bombers won their elimination game 20-2 over West Memphis at Freedom Field at McClain Park.
Madelyn Yates took the win in the circle after pitching two innings, striking out two batters and giving up no hits and no runs. Tabby Switzer, Sydnie Zimmer, Payton Huskey and Morgan Pierski all had base hits for Mountain Home.
The Lady Bombers will move on to the fifth place game Saturday as they travel to Pine Bluff.
Both of Mountain Home’s soccer teams were able to advance to the championship games of the 6A-East Conference Tournament after winning their semifinal games at Bomber Stadium.
The top-seeded Bomber boys defeated Searcy by a score of 6-1. Mountain Home was led by Mitchell McDonald with two goals and two assists, Ewan Platt scored two goals, Xaco Baonza had a goal and dished out two assists, Talyn Benton added a goal, Mat Dos Anjos and Ben Smith each had two assists, and Spencer Foster recorded six saves. The Bombers remain undefeated in 15 games on the season, and they’ll return to Bomber Stadium for Saturday’s title contest against Little Rock Hall.
The evening began with Mountain Home’s girls shutting out Jonesboro 5-0. Grace Beckham was the Lady Bombers’ leading scorer with a hat trick and an assist; Irati Saez and Sabra Wickersham each added a goal; Sarah Swonger, Chloe Nosari and Katie McLean all had assists; and Emma Martin finished with two saves at the goalkeeper position. Mountain Home will play in the championship game Saturday either at home or at Searcy.
