U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Deputy Operations Manager Mark Case says those in the area below the Norfork Dam should exercise caution as spillway gates are released. He says the total between spillway and generation equate to approximately 25,000 cubic feet per second, about half of what was spilled at the peak of last weekend. He says the generation could last up to two days as the water levels in Lake Norfork crest, then lower.
Although the release is not an emergency situation, Case says the moving water is dangerous.

He says hydrologists in Little Rock directed the release because with the additional two inches of rainfall Wednesday night and Thursday the ground is saturated. As a result runoff increases the lake level.
The area should see a difference Friday.

According to Case Bull Shoals is supposed to crest in approximately ten days. The lake level at noon Thursday was 692, still three feet short of the top of the flood pool and there is no predicted release of spillgates.
