The Arkansas Tax Reform and Relief Task Force is focused on putting Arkansas’ tax laws under the microsope in an effort to attract more businesses to the state. Local Senator Missy Irvin, whose district covers Cleburne, Searcy and Stone counties and portions of Baxter, Faulkner, Fulton, Marion, Van Buren and White counties, serves on the 16-member task force and says they will study the current tax provisions and policies in place and ask if the policies contribute to Arkansas’ economic growth.

Irvin says a good broad-based tax policy will attract more business to the state.Previous so-called task forces were more of a blue ribbon commission focused on education and similar issues.

This year’s group proposes to look at each tax exemption and tax policy in place to examine its effectiveness.
