Three from Arkansas universities on football hall ballot

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) _ Three college football players with Arkansas ties are
on this year’s ballot for the College Football Hall of Fame.

Former Arkansas defensive tackle Dan Hampton and former Arkansas linebacker
Cliff Powell are on the ballot, along with former Arkansas State linebacker Bill
Bergey.

Hampton was on the Razorbacks team that beat No. 19 Georgia in the 1976 Cotton
Bowl and No. 2 Oklahoma in the 1978 Orange Bowl.

Powell was on the Arkansas team that went to consecutive Sugar Bowls in 1969
and 1970, and he helped the Razorbacks to a Southwest Conference title in 1968.

Bergey was a three-time All-Southland Conference selection in the 1960s and had
two interceptions in the 1968 Pecan Bowl.

The ballot was released Thursday. Winners will be announced in January.
