A Mountain Home man; 48-year-old Michael Roy Thompson, was arrested by Baxter County Sheriff’s Deputies on multiple felony charges Saturday including aggravated assault, terroristic threatening and parole violation after chasing a woman with a samurai sword. Thompson was booked into the Baxter County Jail with bond set at $25,000.According to the arrest report, Thompson and the victim both applied to work at a local business. The victim was hired and Thompson was not, due to an allegedly extensive criminal record. Thompson took the victim to work and began hanging out until someone told her to make Thompson leave because he couldn’t be at her place of employment causing a scene.

The victim left work and went home. Thompson apparently showed up to the residence shortly after. According to a witness statement made to the police by the victim’s son-in-law, Thompson got out of the vehicle he was in with the sword in hand. Minutes later the victim could be heard screaming for help.

The son-in-law went inside to find the pair wrestling on the ground. He said he told Thompson that he didn’t want to do this, then left to secure his own family in an R.V. next door. Thompson allegedly gained entrance to the R.V. and began making threats saying he was going to burn the R.V. down with everyone in it.

When deputies arrived on the scene they learned all of the victim’s clothes and belongings were thrown outside and she had marks on her. Her cell phone was also destroyed.

In addition to the felony charges Thompson was charged with domestic battery, criminal mischief and three counts of endangering the welfare of a minor.
