Cardinals top Phillies, snap 7-game losing streak

ST. LOUIS (AP) Aledmys Diaz hit a solo home run and Michael Wacha pitched six strong innings as the St. Louis Cardinals snapped a seven-game losing streak in a 3-2 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies. Earlier Friday, the Cardinals, who had lost 17 of their last 22 games, reassigned some members of the coaching staff and released veteran infielder Jhonny Peralta.

The series continues Saturday as Carlos Martinez starts for St. Louis, and the Phillies go with Nick Pivetta. The first pitch is scheduled for 1:15. Saturday’s game can be heard on KTLO-AM. The Ameren Pregame Show begins at 12:20.
