(AP) – A federal jury has cleared a retired Little Rock
police lieutenant of accusations that he used excessive force in punching a man
in the face outside a restaurant nearly six years ago.The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports that David Hudson was recorded on
camera punching Jon “Chris” Erwin seven times in rapid succession as he held
Erwin by the collar in October 2011.

The video was viewed thousands of times on social media, and Erwin’s face was
swollen and cut after the incident. A Pulaski County judge later dropped
misdemeanor charges of resisting arrest against Erwin and a friend for
procedural reasons.

The jury deliberated for about two hours Wednesday before unanimously deciding
the amount of force Hudson used was reasonable.

Hudson is currently a Pulaski County Circuit Court bailiff.
