DONIPHAN, Mo. (AP) — Authorities say a small plane crashed into a detached garage in rural southeast Missouri while making an emergency landing. No one was hurt when the Cessna 182 went down Thursday night about 3.5 miles east of the Doniphan Airport. Ripley County Sheriff Mike Barton says the pilot radioed the Poplar Bluff Airport beforehand to report he was running out of fuel.

Officials from several agencies used the coordinates the pilot provided to search for him. They found him about 10 minutes later with the nose of his plane stuck in a garage located about 50 yards from a home. After the crash, the residents went to check on the pilot. No one else was aboard the plane.

Federal aviation authorities are investigating.
