MH residence receives heavy damage in fire


A residence at 235 Cochran Drive in Mountain Home received heavy damage in a fire Wednesday evening. While the family was home at the time of the fire, no injuries were reported.

Mountain Home Fire Marshal Gary Pyszka says firemen responded to the structure fire at 6:19. Pyszka says when firemen arrived, they found heavy smoke coming from the residence.

Owner Ricky Estes advised firemen everyone was out of the house, and fire crews brought the fire under control within 15 minutes. Fire crews remained on the scene for about two hours completing overhaul and searching for hidden fire.

According to the investigation and statements from the occupants, the fire was started by an unattended pan of cooking oil on the stove.
