Bull Shoals-White River State Park to host events leading to Independence Day

The Bull Shoals-White River State Park as a couple of events scheduled as the Independence Day holiday approaches.

The Tons of Fun Celebration will be held Saturday at the park pavilion beginning at ten a.m. Events include a sack race, a three-legged race, a wheelbarrow race and a watermelon eating and spitting contest. An awards ceremony will be held at noon for all category winners.

The James A. Gaston Visitor Center will be the site of the park’s annual Fourth of July Celebration. The event begins Tuesday evening at 6:30 and concludes with a fireworks display at approximately 9:15, and it’s free to the public with the exception of food and merchandise. Residents and tourists are invited to attend early with blankets and chairs. Kid-friendly activities will be available, and live music will be performed by the acoustic trio “Rio.” The Bull Shoals Police Auxiliary will sell brats, hot dogs, chips and drinks, and an ice cream truck will also be at the park. Fireworks can also be viewed from the Day Use Area of the park and the bluff down Powerhouse Road.
