The City of Bull Shoals has selected David Nixon,  current Justice of the Peace for the Marion County Quorum Court, as the new Mayor following former Mayor David Hotchkiss’ resignation in early June. Nixon will be  filling the current vacant position and will serve out the remainder of Hotchkiss’ term set to expire December 31st, 2018.

Nixon’s resume touts considerable experience as an administrator in public institutions and a PhD in Political Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He has served as C.E.O and Senior Vice President in both state and private contexts. His background also includes working with governmental agencies on the municipal level and internationally.

Initially six candidates submitted resumes, however Aldermen Alan Graley says he dropped out to support another candidate. The five remaining applicants included two current city council members, Nixon and Marty Nickels. The other candidates were Phillip Friese, a local businessman and two-term city council Alderman; James Nolan, former Public Relations Officer for Ranger Boats; and Bill Stahlman, former Justice of the Peace for the Marion County Quorum Court.
