Local and state law enforcement throughout Arkansas are taking part in the State July 4th DWI Mobilization. The Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over operation is in progress through Tuesday.

The Mountain Home Police Department is conducting saturation patrols into the holiday. Chief Carry Manuel says the goal is to keep intoxicated people off Mountain Home streets during the holiday season through increased patrols. He says the department will have extra units on the road during the five-day period, and their sole focus will be to find and arrest anyone choosing to jeopardize the community’s safety by driving under the influence of intoxicants. The city police are asking anyone choosing to drink to have a designated driver. For more information, contact the Mountain Home Police Department at 870-425-6336.

The Arkansas State Police is also stepping up its patrols through Tuesday. Motorists can expect more sobriety checkpoints and saturation patrols involving a unified police force working to keep the highways and streets safe. The State Police is encouraging residents and tourists consuming alcohol to plan a safe way home, and anyone who sees a drunk driver on the road to call 911.
