Kevin Chute of Calico Rock was given eight years in prison after pleading guilty to drug-related charges during a session of Baxter County Circuit Court Thursday.

The 46-year-old Chute was arrested in early November last year. A Baxter County Deputy Sheriff and Norfork Police Officer were working a traffic stop when they were told that a man on a motorcycle — later identified as Chute — has been seen looking into sheds on other people’s property.

Officer Dempsey Thompson and Baxter County Sheriff’s Deputy Rockie Morrell stopped Chute on State Highway 5 South and Jordon Road. Morrell reported that Chute appeared to be very nervous and began to sweat heavily even though it was a cool evening.

The law officers discovered that Chute’s driver’s license was suspended and a search of the motorcycle was undertaken.

Morrell reported that Chute apparently threw an object that bounced off a fence near where they were standing. Morrell found a syringe lying on top of the grass and leaves. In addition, officers found a small set of scales and plastic bags containing a substance believed to be methamphetamine.
