The identity of a Mountain Home man who made forced entry into a relative’s residence and was shot and killed Tuesday night has been released.

Mountain Home Police Chief Carry Manuel says 35-year-old Paul James Assaf was shot making entry into the home and died at the scene. His body was sent to the state crime lab for an autopsy.

The relationship between the invader and the homeowner and the location of the residence have not been released pending completion of the investigation.

In an earlier release, Chief Manuel said police officers responded to a reported home invasion at 9:41 Tuesday evening involving the discharge of a firearm. Upon arrival, they found a wounded suspect who was shot by the homeowner. The suspect died at the scene.

The investigation is on-going by investigators from the Mountain Home Police Department and the Arkansas State Police. Once the investigation is complete, the case file will be turned over to the 14th Judicial District Prosecutor’s Office.
