FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) – The University of Arkansas doesn’t plan on selling
alcohol at intercollegiate sporting events despite new state-issued alcohol
permits.

The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports that large-attendance facility permits
were approved last month for Levy Premium Foodservice, a new concession vendor
for the university. The rules took effect Saturday.

University spokesman Kevin Trainor has said the school has “no current plans”
to sell alcohol at three of its sporting venues. He noted that the Southeastern
Conference forbids alcohol sales in general seating and public areas of
on-campus sporting venues at schools in the conference.

Trainor said Wednesday that the university “reserves the right for approval”
of alcohol consumption for non-athletic events on campus with concessions or
catering at the venues.
