Ryan Joel Anderson of rural Mountain Home made a first appearance in Baxter County Circuit Court Thursday and entered a not guilty plea to charges stemming from a violent domestic disturbance June 29th.
According to the probable cause affidavit, when a Baxter County Deputy Sheriff arrived at a residence along County Road 28, he was met outside in the yard by the victim who told the deputy that her boyfriend — identified as the 20-year-old Anderson — had thrown a cherry flavored slushy-type drink on her and punched her in the nose.
The girlfriend said the fight started when she got home from work and Anderson began yelling at her. She said that Anderson took her phone from her and threw it across the room when she attempted to make a call for help.
The victim alleged that Anderson had been violent with her in the past, but she had not reported the incidents.
During interview with the victim, the deputy reported that Anderson came outside and accused his girlfriend of lying about the incident. He alleged he had been out that day looking for a job and when his girlfriend came home from her work; she began throwing food at him and yelling at him for not being employed. Anderson said his girlfriend had scratched his eye and neck during the fracas.
The girlfriend is almost four months pregnant and ended up being checked out at Baxter Regional Medical Center. She is alleged to have told hospital personnel she was hit in the stomach and that Anderson knew she was pregnant at the time.
Anderson, who is being held in the Baxter County Detention Center with bond set at $5,000, was ordered to reappear in Circuit Court on October 19th. He is charged with second degree domestic battery and interference with emergency communications.
