Hooten’s Arkansas Football releases 2017 issue

The 2017 edition of the Natural State’s most comprehensive football publication is on newsstands. Hooten’s Arkansas Football Magazine previews the upcoming season for all 208 high school teams and the college teams in the state. The biggest section of the magazine breaks down every high school football team and conference in Arkansas.

Mountain Home was picked by the coaches to finish sixth in the 6A-East. The Bombers were also ranked 12th in all of Class 6A by Hooten’s. The defending 6A-East co-champions from Pine Bluff are expected to win the conference.
In addition, Mountain Home has two players named to the Steve Landers Auto Group Super Team for Class 6A. David Wehmeyer represents the Bombers on the offensive line, and he is joined on the team by defensive back Brad Litty.

The 3A-1 includes four area schools including one under new leadership.
Yellville-Summit is expected to miss the state playoffs in its first year under new head coach Lucas Morris. The Panthers were selected to finish seventh in conference play.
The coaches predict Melbourne will return to the postseason for the second consecutive year. The Bearkatz are picked to finish fifth in the 3A-1.
Melbourne is expected to be joined in the playoffs by Mountain View. The Yellowjackets are picked to finish third in the league.
Marshall is expected to miss the postseason. The Bobcats were selected by the coaches to end up eighth in the 3A-1.

Salem is expected to return to the Class 2A state playoffs. The Greyhounds were selected as the fifth place team in the 2A-3. The coaches predicted the conference title to go to Earle.

Harrison is expected to make a return trip to the postseason. The Goblins are picked to finish fourth in the 5A-West, and they are also ranked sixth in all of Class 5A by Hooten’s. Alma is selected to win the league.
