A West Plains man, 36-year-old Nicholas Allen Hardin, was arrested on felony drug charges early Friday morning after a report of a suspicious vehicle in the area of Mossy Rock Place in Mountain Home. When officers arrived they found Hardin asleep at the wheel. Officers searched him and the vehicle and found drugs and drug paraphernalia. He was booked into the Baxter County Jail on a $5,000 bond and released the next day.

According to the incident report, when officers awoke Hardin he said he was on his way to West Plains when he got tired and pulled over to sleep. The report says he acted very nervous and would not make eye contact.

When officers searched him they found a metal object inside his pocket which, Hardin allegedly stated, might be speed. Inside the container were two empty bags, one with a white residue and the other with a white crystalline substance.

As Hardin was placed in the back of the patrol car he was asked if there was anything else in his vehicle. Hardin said there was a bag with syringes and a pipe. In the bag officers found, digital scales, a marijuana pipe and a loaded syringe with suspected methamphetamine.

He was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance, felony possession of drug paraphernalia and misdemeanor felony possession of drug paraphernalia.

He is scheduled to appear in Baxter County Circuit Court in August.
