Mountain Home had a lead heading into the fourth quarter but the Lions scored the game’s final 14 points as they posted a 28-21 win. The Bombers defense held Searcy 14 points under their season scoring average and the offense moved the ball very well but a couple of plays turned the game around.

Mountain Home was inside the ten yard line in the final minute of the first half when quarterback Isaac McKay was injured and had to leave the game for one play. That play turned out to be a fumble Searcy recovered to thwart what looked like a drive to put the Bombers up by two touchdowns.

Then in the third quarter, Mountain Home had the ball inside the one yard line but the Lions held on back to back plays, again keeping the Bombers from going up by two touchdowns.

It looked early like the Lions would put a lot of points on the board when it took only three plays for them to find the endzone. But they wouldn’t score again until just over four minutes into the second half. Quarterback Mason Schucker had a big night with 389 passing yards including hitting 20 of 20 passes in the second half.

For the Bombers, quarterback Isaac McKay finished with 167 rushing yards while fullback Junior Williams had 153.

The loss drops Mountain Home to 1-8 overall and 1-5 in the 6A East and officially eliminates them from playoff contention. Searcy improves to 7-2 and 4-2.

Mountain Home wraps up the season Thursday night at West Memphis.
