Local Sears Hometown store will continue to carry Whirpool

News recently made the headlines the Sears Holdings Corporation announced they would no longer carry Whirlpool, Maytag and KitchenAid products due to a pricing dispute. Mountain Home’s Sears Hometown Store says that is not the case locally. Local store owner Eden Cowart says she wants to emphasize to the community the Mountain Home location is independently owned and over 700 independently owned and operated Sears Hometown Stores across America will continue to sell Whirlpool, Maytag and KitchenAid appliances.Stores like the one in Mountain Home operate under Sears Hometown and Outlet Stores, Incorporated, which separated from Sears Holdings Corporation in October 2012. Cowart says news from Sears Holdings Corporation about its performance, store closings or product disputes are in no way a reflection of the health of Sears Hometown and Outlet Stores or the local Sears store.

The Whirlpool product Cowart sells in her store is not provided by Sears Holdings Corporation. The store operates under an agreement with Sears Hometown and Outlet Stores, and they are the source for their merchandise. Cowart says Sears Hometown and Outlet Stores has a direct relationship with many brands in many different product categories and Whirlpool is one of those brands.

Cowart says she is excited about the future of the store. In a time when numerous brick and mortar businesses are being challenged by online purchasing, Cowart says the local Sears store is not feeling that impact.

Cowart says the local Sears store does coordinate with online purchasing. Customers may shop Sears online and have their purchases shipped to the local store without any freight shipping costs. Even with online orders, the local store will deliver, install and haul away the item being replaced.

The Sears Hometown Store in Mountain Home opened in 1966.
