A quick moving fire destroyed a single story residence at 204 Blacksmith Street in Flippin, one block off Main Street, Tuesday morning.

Flippin Fire Chief Glen Chapman says one person was at home at the time the fire broke out about 8:00. The unidentified female was able to escape without injury.

Chief Chapman says the fire threatened other nearby structures but none sustained damage.

The Flippin Fire Chief says the cause of the fire is under investigation, although it appears it was accidental.

Flippin firefighters were assisted by firemen from Fairview, Summit, Rae Valley, Cotter and Gassville. The Flippin Police Department and the Marion County Office of Emergency Management were also on the scene.

Firemen battled the blaze until about 11:00.
